David Lipscomb University is a private, coeducational university
of liberal arts and sciences in Nashville, Tennessee, that offers bachelor's and master's
degrees. Since its inception, Lipscomb has been dedicated to the concept of academic
excellence.
Established in 1891, the University is associated with the
Churches of Christ and is committed to providing its students the best liberal arts
education in a Christian environment.
Lipscomb offers the Bachelor of Arts degree in sixty-two fields of
emphasis and the Bachelor of Science degree in forty-six fields. In addition to an
outstanding academic environment, Lipscomb requires all full-time students to attend daily
chapel and take daily Bible classes.
For the home school student to be accepted as a Lipscomb
University student, the following requirements must be met:
An application for admission must be completed
Suitable ACT or SAT results -- same for regular incoming freshmen.
14 Academic units -- same for regular incoming freshmen.
2.25 GPA -- same for regular incoming freshmen.
Personal reference
Educational reference ("non-relative"). If not possible,
then two personal references
Interview with the Director of Admissions (May be conducted by
phone although a personal campus visit is highly recommended)
Official copy of high school diploma with graduating date or GED
test results with an average score of 50 or more in the five areas of the GED with no
score lower than 45.
The home schooler is to be approved by the Director of Admissions.
He/She is to be treated as a regular student, taking a normal schedule of Lipscomb
University classes, having an academic advisor as all other Lipscomb University students.
