Wingate University

Located on a beautiful pastoral campus near metropolitan Charlotte, Wingate has in the past century established itself as the premier small private university in North Carolina.

The central mission of Wingate University is to prepare its students to become enlightened, productive citizens by providing a high quality education in the Judeo-Christian heritage. Accordingly, the University has a threefold purpose:

Wingate is a liberal arts university offering more than 40 majors on the undergraduate level including pre-professional programs. More than 90 percent of the faculty hold doctorates in their teaching specialty. All classes and labs are taught by faculty. The student to teacher ratio is 13:1. Undergraduate Degree Completion courses in Business, Communications and Human Services as well as Graduate courses in Business and Education are offered at the University’s Matthews Center. The new School of Pharmacy offers the PharmD degree.

Wingate is known for its truly outstanding and well-qualified faculty. Over 80% have doctorates or the highest recognized degree in their field. They love teaching and have chosen Wingate because of the small classes and the opportunity to work with individual students in a close personal way and challenge them to excel. The student/faculty ratio is 13:1, and all university classes are taught by experienced professors, not by graduate assistants. Wingate University Summer Research Grants enable Wingate students and faculty to engage in research projects every summer. Wingate University offers a wide range of majors that lead to masters and baccalaureate degrees. Each year, Wingate graduates are accepted to many of the most prestigious graduate and professional schools in the country, while others choose to go directly into the work force.
