Admissions

Admission Requirements and Procedures

Listed below are the specific requirements and procedures that Kaplan College has established for admission.

  1. An applicant to the College must:  

        a. be a high school graduate, or 

        b. possess a General Education Development(GED) certificate 

    Evidence of any high school graduation or equivalent must be presented to the College. Such evidence must include: a transcript indicating the date of high school graduation, a faxed notarized copy of a high school diploma or GED certificate, or a college transcript showing the date of high school graduation. If applicants who attended high school in foreign countries are unable to produce the required document, evidence may include certification from other official sources.

  2. All applicants must complete a self-assessment. 

  3. All applicants must complete an application for admission. 

  4. All applicants must complete an informational interview, which may be conducted by telephone. 

  5. All applicants seeking admission in a degreed program must take an entrance exam and/or submit an essay per requirements for specific program. A waiver of this requirement may be granted under certain circumstances. Information about passing score and waivers for each program will be made available through the admissions department. 

  6. All applicants to the Microsoft® certificate programs must (1) take an entrance exam and achieve a minimum or higher score that is pre-determined by the College. Information on passing scores for each program will be made available to applicants through the admissions department and (2) an essay describing how completion of the program will help in career advancement.
    All courses are taught in English. Students must be able to read and write in English fluently. English abilities will be determined through the College admissions test (if applicable), interview, and completion of the application. 

  7. Applications for credit for previous education, training, work experience (experiential learning), or CLEP must be completed. This includes examinations to determine credit for previous education. Education received at foreign educational institutions may need to be evaluated for U.S. equivalency by an approved evaluating agency. There will be no charge for these evaluations except for those charges required by outside agencies.
    All applicants must complete financial arrangement prior to admission. If applicable, financial aid applications must be completed. 

  8. All applicants must complete an Enrollment Agreement (must be signed by a parent or guardian if the applicant is under 18 years of age).
    Students who have prior felony convictions may be denied the opportunity to take professional licensing, certification, or registration exams after graduation, or may be denied a license or certification to practice in some states even if the exam is taken and successfully completed. Students are urged to inquire about current requirements prior to enrolling in the program of their choice.
