Eastern New Mexico University, a state institution offering bachelor's and
master's degrees, serves students from New Mexico, other states, and other nations.
Educational programs are offered at the Portales campus and also by interactive
distance education, public broadcast television, a university center in Ruidoso, New
Mexico, and branch/community college in Roswell, New Mexico.
With over 50 majors and several
pre-professionals programs, Eastern offers courses of study for almost
everyone. Faculty engage students in learning through innovative uses of
technology and hands-on experiences in the classroom. Eastern was the
first institution in New Mexico to adopt a comprehensive assessment
program where students demonstrate their learning as a result of their
education. This program helps faculty measure student success and the
effectiveness of the campus learning environment.
Numerous campus activities, including
athletics, theater, dance, music, intramurals, and more than 100 special
interest clubs, including student publications and Greek organizations,
offer students the opportunity to take part or attend many activities.
From attending free movies in the downtown theatre, to going to see
comedians and bands, student have many choices for social outlets outside
of the classroom.
