In its 146-year history the University of Evansville has maintained a rich tradition of academic excellence. Our curriculum is based in the traditional arts and sciences, equipping students with knowledge that is both meaningful and relevant. Students develop essential skills in communication, critical thinking and creative thinking for an educational experience that will prepare them for future success.
Meeting the needs of the students and the community through teaching, scholarship, and service has long been a responsibility embraced by UE professors. Teaching is their primary focus - there are no teaching assistants at UE. You and your education are top priority. Our professors' scholarly activities and research, some of which might include you, serve to complement their role as your educator. It is in this spirit that I invite you to join us at the University of Evansville.
Stephen G. Greiner

Vice President for Academic Affairs

Admission Policy for Home Schooled Applicants-
The University of Evansville welcomes home schooled students who are sufficiently prepared to be successful at UE. At the earliest, students may apply for admission after completing a body of course work that is approximately equivalent to six semesters of high school preparatory material. At the latest, students should apply for admission by February 1 of the year that is equivalent to the senior year of high school. In addition to presenting a complete Application for Admission, home schooled candidates should submit the following to be considered for admission to the University of Evansville:

Transcript
:
A home-prepared transcript is acceptable. Students are expected to have studied a rigorous college preparatory curriculum, which includes these areas:
  • English (grammar, literature and composition) - four years
  • Algebra - two years
  • Geometry - one year
  • Biology - one year
  • Chemistry - one year
  • US History - one semester
  • World History - one semester

These courses are recommended, but not required for admission consideration:

  • Foreign Language - two years
  • Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, or Calculus
  • Physics

SAT I/ACT:
We require applicants to present either one of these standardized tests. While UE does not have a preference, the Department of Education currently requires that home schooled students take the ACT in order to qualify for federal financial aid.

Letters of Recommendation:
In lieu of a guidance counselor evaluation form, we ask for three letters of recommendation from non-family members. Suggested authors for the letters are pastors, employers, coaches, music teachers, scout leaders, club sponsors, etc.

GED:
We do not require a GED if all the above criteria are satisfactory.

Although it is not required, it is helpful for the home schooled student to have taken one or more college courses prior to enrolling full-time at UE. The University of Evansville welcomes home-schooled students in certain UE classes.

Application Deadlines-

The University of Evansville has two application deadlines. The early action deadline is December 1. If you apply on or before December 1 your admission and scholarship decision will be mailed on December 15. By participating in the early action deadline you may take advantage of UE's electronic FAFSA filing program, receive your complete financial aid award by mid-March and participate in the early depositor program.
The regular notification deadline is February 1 and decisions on admission and scholarship will be mailed no later than February 15. Once you've been admitted, you have two options for reserving your space in the freshman class. The early deposit deadline is April 1 and students who submit their $200 non-refundable admission deposit by then will have the opportunity to work with their academic advisor to discuss course schedule prior the start of classes. Students will also have their UE e-mail accounts available in April as well as the opportunity to indicate residence hall and registration date preferences. The regular deposit deadline is May 1.
