Southern Illinois University Carbondale (SIUC) offers more than 200 undergraduate majors, specializations, and minors--everything from accounting to zoology--and in every field: agriculture, applied sciences and arts, business and administration, education, engineering, liberal arts, mass communication and media arts, and science. Our curriculum
includes associate, bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees, and professional degrees in law and medicine.

This generous offering attracts students and educators from many American cultures and from all parts of the world--over a hundred different countries. The wisdom and customs they bring from their homes greatly add to the social and educational richness of the University.

SIUC's Study Abroad Programs include International Studies in Japan; International Studies in Austria; International Student Exchange Program at 145 study sites throughout the world; summer programs; and consortium
programs.

University Honors students may replace 29 of their 41 semester hours of university core curriculum requirements with honors seminars. Other Honors Program advantages include eligibility to compete for scholarships, opportunities to publish written work, and recognition at honors days and commencement.

For students who plan to spend an extended amount of time studying and would like to live near like-minded students, University Housing reserves study floors in each residence hall area.
